Who We Are

Introduction

FCCAP Background

The Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention (FCCAP) was originally chartered in 1981 and formally appointed by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors in 1995.

CAPCs & California Mandate

Child Abuse Prevention Councils (CAPCs) are established under California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 18980, which mandates that every county create a CAPC to coordinate community efforts to prevent and respond to child abuse and neglect.

This mandate was developed in recognition that child abuse is one of the most tragic social and criminal justice issues of our time, and that victims and their families must navigate a complex intervention system involving many professionals and agencies.

OCAP Support

FCCAP is supported by the Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP), which administers federal grants, contracts, and state programs designed to promote best practices and innovative approaches to the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse.

Partners & Support

CalTrin Professional Development

APSAC Membership

FCCAP is a proud member of both the national and California chapters of the Association of Professionals Solving the Abuse of Children (APSAC) (National) and CAPSAC (California Chapter), multidisciplinary organizations dedicated to improving the response to child maltreatment.

This mandate was developed in recognition that child abuse is one of the most tragic social and criminal justice issues of our time, and that victims and their families must navigate a complex intervention system involving many professionals and agencies.
