Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment Neglect
What is a Mandated Reporter?
A professional or regular volunteer who has contact with children, youth, or teens and are required by law to report allegations or disclosures of child abuse and neglect.
Are you a regular Volunteer?
Under AB 506, a regular volunteer is defined as a volunteer with a youth service organization who is 18 years or older and has direct contact with or supervises children for more than 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year. You must complete your Mandated Reporter Training!!

General Mandated Reporter Training –AB506
Description: This training ensures that mandated reporters who supervise children are fully informed about what constitutes child abuse, how to recognize the four types of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, and neglect), and the most current California laws related to reporting. Participants will learn how to identify signs of abuse and the correct procedures for reporting suspected cases.
The training is designed for mandated reporters as well as individuals who work or volunteer with children. Customized sessions are also available, with specialized focus areas such as working with children with disabilities, Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS), and additional related topics.
Training Information
Time: 1 hour in length, this training is comprehensive but can be revised to fit scheduling.
Location: Requested Organization/School Site
Cost: $40 fee per hour (due before or on the day of training)

Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers- AB 1207
Description: This training ensures that child care workers understand how the law defines child abuse and neglect, the protections afforded to Mandated Reporters, and how to appropriately speak with children regarding suspected abuse or disclosures. Participants will also learn how to file a report, what occurs after a report is made, and key considerations specific to child care settings.
Training Information
Time: 1 hour in length, this training is comprehensive but can be revised to fit scheduling.

Description: This training ensures that school personnel understand how the law defines child abuse and neglect, the protections afforded to Mandated Reporters, and how to appropriately speak with children regarding suspected abuse or disclosures. Participants will also learn how to file a report, what occurs after a report is made, and key considerations specific to school personnel settings
